Incredible slow motion video of water hitting sand

:
The true nature of substances can be hard to appreciate, sometimes, especially since interactions can occur faster than our eye can see.

A drop of water, for example, is a beautiful thing to see in slow motion, forming an intricate crown and jeweled spires that seem to stretch and reach to the sun before they are pulled down by the iron hands of gravity.

It's always fascinating to see these kind of slow motion videos, especially this next one, which is of a water drop hitting very fine sand - so fine that the sand behaves almost like a liquid.

There's a popular series of flash-based browser games called Falling Sand, or World of Sand, or Hell of Sand, which allow the user to interact with sand, water and other substances. They're interesting physics simulations, modelling water flow and the interaction between these substances. And you can also blow stuff up. Here's a link to one.

Here's another video of a slow motion water drop:

And if you'd like a little more slow motion fun, here's a compilation video of slow-mo videos:

Top 5 Keyword Shortcuts

: Cut Out the Middle Man
In the Firefox browser there's a nifty feature that I've been utilising more and more of late [other browsers may implement this also]. Keyword shortcuts for bookmarks are a great way to 'cut out the middle man' when using text boxes on sites.

When you right click in a search box, for instance, an option will come up: Add a keyword for this search. What this enables you to do is use your address bar as any page's search box

Out with MTV Flash - In With HTML

: Bloated flash sites suck, at least some provide an alternative.
I regularly visit MTV.com to get news content for another site but am constantly at odds with the bloated flash interface they implemented a few months ago. It really put a dent in publishing time when I had to quote from that site.

But today I found something great. While looking at the bottom right corner of the flash driven site, I see a little button that says 'HTML SITE'. What's this
